Marsh Brook Rehab has an extensive staff of certified physical therapists, each with his or her own area of expertise. We pair the right PT and PT assistant to support your requirements. With a diverse range of skills, we can offer the precise orthopedic outpatient therapy services you need to get you back to feeling better than ever—quickly and skillfully. 

Our Orthopedic Team specializes in providing physical therapy for a wide range of orthopedic injuries and conditions, both surgical and non-surgical. These include:

Our Orthopedic Team

Erin James

Physical Therapist

Physical Therapist Erin earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Interdisciplinary Health Services and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in 2016. Erin practiced in the Philadelphia area before moving to the Seacoast to be closer to family. She has particular interests in orthopedics, working with endurance athletes, and conditions involving the spine. She has earned her Certification in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. Her personal interests include running, biking, snowboarding and spending time with family and friends.

Barbara Natale

Senior Physical Therapist Assistant

Barb is a Senior Physical Therapist Assistant. A valuable member of the Marsh Brook Rehab clinical team since 1994, she received a Certificate of Clinical Achievement in 2012 recognizing her advanced clinical experience. Barb specializes in fall prevention, spine education, electrical modalities, and Kinesio Taping. She is also a Certified Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and certified in the Graston Technique.

Katelyn Perkins

Physical Therapist

Katelyn earned her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of New England in 2013, after earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry from Bates College in 2008. Prior to joining Marsh Brook Rehab in 2015, she worked as a research technician in a pathology research lab at Massachusetts General Hospital. Katelyn specializes in orthopedics and sports physical therapy and is certified in the Graston Technique.

Debbie Fernald

Clinical Education Coordinator / Physical Therapist

Deborah “Debbie” Fernald MS PT, CCI: Debbie earned her Advanced Master’s of Physical Therapy degree in Orthopedics and Sports from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She helped open the practice in 1989 and has remained a critical contributor to the success of Marsh Brook Rehab. Debbie specializes in orthopedics, geriatrics and total joint replacement rehabilitation. She is credentialed with the American Physical Therapy Association as a Certified Clinical Instructor.

Karyn F. Cashman

Physical Therapist Assistant

Karyn has been a physical therapist assistant since 1979 and joined the Marsh Brook Rehab in 2011. She specializes in orthopedics, geriatrics, aquatics and wound care. Karyn is certified in the Graston Technique. She is a Somersworth native and has traveled the country extensively, practicing in the states of California, Michigan, Texas and New Hampshire.

Samantha Hetzel

Physical Therapist

Physical Therapist Samantha joined Marsh Brook in 2017 after completing her Doctorate degree from Franklin Pierce University. Her interests include aquatics, fall prevention, bone heath and manual therapy. Samantha graduated from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She received her Certificate in Personal Training from Manchester Community College in 2014. Her hobbies include ice hockey, furniture restoration, photography, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Danielle Schmutzler

Physical Therapist

Danielle earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Northern Arizona University in 2014. She received her Doctorate in Physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2016. After starting her practice in California, Danielle joined the Marsh Brook Rehab team in 2019. She specializes in orthopedic manual therapy and exercise intervention. In her free time Danielle can be found outside playing soccer, hiking or skiing.
